Sergio uses his loupe to examine your stone under 10x magnification, checking whether it is safe to set. He documents the weight and dimensions to prepare the design according to its measurements. Please note that OROSERGIO cannot be held liable for pre-existing flaws or damage to client-supplied stones.

Sergio examines your diamond under 10x magnification using his loupe to determine whether the stone is safe to set. He notes any chips, inclusions, or structural concerns and documents the weight and dimensions to prepare the design.
02 — Documentation
Your diamond is weighed on a precision scale and measured for exact dimensions. Sergio photographs the stone for internal reference and rendering purposes. This documentation helps ensure accuracy throughout the design and crafting process.
03 — Insurance
From the moment your stone is documented, it is fully insured under our studio's comprehensive coverage. This protection remains in effect throughout the entire design and crafting process until the finished piece is returned to your hands. Complete peace of mind.
04 — Design
Sergio discusses setting options with you based on your diamond's unique characteristics and your personal style preferences. A CAD rendering is created so you can visualize the finished piece in three dimensions before any metalwork begins. Revisions are welcome until you are completely satisfied.
05 — Crafting
Your diamond is set into the finished piece by Sergio and his team. This is the most critical step — the prongs or bezel must hold the stone securely while allowing maximum light to enter and reflect. Decades of experience ensure your diamond is set with precision and care.
06 — Return
Your completed piece undergoes a final inspection under magnification to verify every detail meets our standards. It is then polished to perfection and presented to you along with care instructions, cleaning recommendations, and guidance on maintaining your new piece for years to come.

Sergio will carefully examine your stone under 10x magnification to assess its condition, identify any chips or inclusions, and determine the best setting options. Many of our Toronto clients bring diamonds with deep personal significance, and we treat every stone with the respect and care its history deserves.
Absolutely. While diamonds are the most common stones clients bring in, we also work with sapphires, emeralds, rubies, morganite, and a wide range of other precious and semi-precious gemstones. Coloured gemstones open up exciting design possibilities — a deep blue sapphire in a vintage-inspired setting, an emerald paired with diamond accents, or a vibrant ruby as the centrepiece of a modern cocktail ring. Sergio will evaluate your gemstone and discuss setting options that protect the stone while showcasing its unique colour and brilliance to maximum effect.
This is one of our most requested services. Many clients inherit rings that hold tremendous sentimental value but feature settings that do not match their personal style. We carefully remove the diamond from its original setting, assess its condition, and work with you to design a completely new piece around it. The original gold can often be melted down and incorporated into the new design as well, preserving even more of the family connection. The result is a piece that honours the past while feeling entirely yours — modern, personal, and meaningful.
We work with virtually all diamond shapes and sizes, including round brilliant, princess, oval, cushion, emerald cut, pear, marquise, radiant, and asscher. During your initial consultation, Sergio examines your stone under magnification to check for structural issues such as chips, feathers, or significant inclusions near the girdle that could affect setting security. In rare cases where a stone has damage that makes it unsuitable for certain settings, he will recommend alternative options that protect the diamond while still creating a stunning piece. The vast majority of diamonds — regardless of age, origin, or grading — are perfectly suitable for custom setting.
Yes, and this is something we take very seriously. From the moment your diamond enters our studio, it is fully insured against loss, theft, and damage until the completed piece is returned to you. We document every stone upon intake — weighing and measuring it for our records. Our studio maintains comprehensive insurance coverage specifically for client stones, so you can have complete peace of mind throughout the design and crafting process. We also recommend that you maintain your own jewellery insurance for the finished piece once it leaves our care.
The typical timeline from design approval to completion is three to four weeks. This includes stone verification and documentation, collaborative design work and CAD rendering, crafting the setting in your chosen metal, carefully setting your diamond, and final quality inspection and polishing. The timeline can vary depending on the complexity of your design and the metal you choose — platinum pieces may take longer due to the specialized techniques required. If you have a specific deadline such as a proposal date or anniversary, let Sergio know during your consultation and we will plan the project timeline accordingly to ensure your piece is ready when you need it.
