A contour wedding band — also called a curved band, shadow band, or fitted band — is custom-shaped to follow the exact outline of your engagement ring. Instead of sitting with a visible gap between the two rings, a contour band nestles directly against the engagement ring's setting, prongs, and centre stone for a seamless, unified look on the finger.
Contour bands matter most when your engagement ring has a stone shape that extends beyond the band — such as an oval, pear, marquise, or low-set centre stone. With these shapes, a straight wedding band would leave an awkward gap or sit at an angle. A contour band eliminates that problem entirely.
The process: bring your engagement ring to your consultation. Sergio examines the ring in person, measures its profile from multiple angles, and designs the wedding band to follow its exact contour. If your engagement ring was made by OROSERGIO, we reference the original CAD model for precision down to a fraction of a millimetre. If your ring came from another jeweller, we take detailed measurements and create a custom mould to ensure a perfect fit.
Many couples want wedding bands that feel connected without being identical. We design his-and-hers sets that share a common thread — the same metal, the same subtle texture, or a shared engraving motif — while accommodating different widths, profiles, and stone preferences for each partner. One partner might choose a 3mm pavé band in 18k white gold while the other selects a 6mm brushed band in the same metal. The connection is there, but each ring fits its wearer perfectly.
Engraving options: wedding dates, initials, short phrases in any language, GPS coordinates of a meaningful location, or fingerprint engravings — where each partner's fingerprint is laser-etched inside the other's band. The consultation works best when both partners attend together.

If your engagement ring was made by OROSERGIO, we still have the original CAD file on record, which allows us to engineer the wedding band with sub-millimetre precision. If your ring came from another jeweller, we take detailed measurements and photographs in-studio to capture the exact contour. Custom wedding bands at OROSERGIO typically range from $1,500 to $6,000, depending on the metal, width, design complexity, and whether diamonds or gemstones are included. A simple polished gold band in 14k at a standard width starts at the lower end. As you move to 18k gold or platinum, add texture or engraving, or incorporate pavé-set diamonds, the price increases accordingly. Fully set eternity bands — where diamonds encircle the entire ring — sit at the upper end of the range. During your consultation, Sergio provides a transparent quote before any work begins, so there are no surprises. Payment plans are available for larger projects.
Most custom wedding bands are completed in two to three weeks from the date of design approval. That timeline covers CAD modelling, casting or hand-forging, stone setting if applicable, finishing, and a final quality inspection. If your wedding date is approaching, we recommend booking your consultation at least six to eight weeks in advance. This gives you time for the initial meeting, a design review, production, and any last-minute sizing adjustments. In urgent situations, we can sometimes accommodate a faster turnaround — just let us know when you reach out and we will do our best to work within your timeline.

We have also made sets where one band features diamonds and the other has a clean surface, but both share the same engraving inside. Hand-engraving is done by Sergio directly and produces a slightly organic, artisanal character that looks beautiful under magnification. Machine engraving offers cleaner, more uniform lettering and works well for longer inscriptions. Fingerprint engraving involves scanning each partner's fingerprint and laser-etching it onto the inside of the other's band. Engraving is typically added as one of the final steps in production, and most inscriptions can be completed within the standard two-to-three-week timeline.
Comfort-fit refers to a band with a slightly domed or rounded interior surface, as opposed to a flat interior. The rounded profile reduces contact pressure against the finger, making the ring noticeably more comfortable for all-day, every-day wear. This is especially important for wider bands — anything above 4mm — where a flat interior can feel tight or create friction. Most of our wedding bands are made with a comfort-fit interior by default, but we can adjust the degree of curvature based on your preference.
