A floral cluster, engraved shoulders or the geometry of Art Deco can become the starting point for your ring. Work with Sergio in Toronto to bring the details you love into a new design.

A floral silhouette

Decorative shoulders

A softly squared outline

A sculpted setting
Find the style that feels like you
Explore four jewellery periods, from ornate Georgian metalwork to Art Deco geometry. Choose one detail to carry into your ring, or draw on the style throughout the design.

Georgian-inspired rings
1714-1837
Georgian jewellery offers a starting point for those drawn to early diamond cuts and decorative metalwork. Historic settings often enclosed the backs of their stones, sometimes with foil beneath them to influence their appearance.
Defining details
- Ornate metalwork
- Old mine and rose cuts
- Scrolling patterns
Design ideas
- A rose-cut cluster
- Engraved shoulders
For a ring made today, borrow the outline and decorative detail, with a setting chosen for your stone and the way you will wear it.

Victorian-inspired rings
1837-1901
Flowers, hearts and symbolic motifs give Victorian-inspired rings their romantic character. From a floral cluster to two stones chosen for their meaning, start with a detail that makes the ring personal.
Defining details
- Floral and heart motifs
- Personal symbolism
- Old mine and old European cuts
Design ideas
- A floral cluster
- Two stones, one story
Choose a detail with meaning to you, then make the proportions, stone combination and metal your own.

Edwardian-inspired rings
c. 1900-1915
Delicate openwork, garlands and symmetrical patterns give Edwardian-inspired rings a sense of lightness. Platinum and diamonds were prominent in the jewellery of the period, with fine metalwork framing the stones.
Defining details
- Lace-like openwork
- Beaded borders, called milgrain
- Bows, garlands and symmetry
Design ideas
- Openwork beneath the centre stone
- Milgrain and an oval centre
Explore fine, open details with Sergio, including how the setting protects your stone and sits beside a wedding band.

Art Deco-inspired rings
1920s-1930s
Art Deco is a study in strong outlines and repeating shapes. Historical designs often paired platinum or white gold with diamonds and contrasting coloured stones. A stepped shoulder, a geometric border or a line of baguettes can give a new ring its character.
Defining details
- Geometric outlines
- Stepped and linear forms
- Contrasting stones
Design ideas
- Emerald cut and baguettes
- An octagonal border
Start with a striking shape or keep the geometry understated. The centre stone can be antique, newly cut or a diamond you already own.

Choose a diamond with character
The age of a diamond and the way it is cut are separate choices. A new ring can hold an older diamond, or a newly cut stone with historic proportions.
An antique diamond. Bring a family diamond for assessment, or ask Sergio about sourcing an older stone. We review its history and condition before recommending a setting.
A newly cut diamond. Ask about available natural and lab-grown options in your preferred cut, size and budget. A modern cut can also sit beautifully within a vintage-inspired setting.
Choose the cut that speaks to you
Compare the softly squared old mine cut, the round old European cut and the domed rose cut. Each brings a different shape and facet pattern to your ring.
Old mine cut
A cushion-like outline with softly rounded corners, a small flat top and a high upper profile. Each stone has its own proportions.
Old European cut
A round outline with a small flat top and a high upper profile. A visible facet at the bottom, called the culet, is another defining detail.
Rose cut
A dome of triangular facets rising above a typically flat base. Seen from the side, its profile is quite different from the pointed base of a brilliant cut.
Portuguese-cut diamonds
Several tiers of facets give the Portuguese cut its layered pattern of reflections. If you are drawn to this layered look, ask Sergio about availability and how an individual diamond could work in your ring. Compare its appearance and proportions before choosing the setting; the cut’s name describes its faceting, not its age or country of origin.
For a more geometric look
Emerald and Asscher cuts offer a different direction. Their step-like facets emphasise clean lines, with an elongated outline for an emerald cut and a square outline with cropped corners for an Asscher cut. Either can provide a starting point for an Art Deco-inspired setting.
Discuss your preferred cutA different kind of sparkle
Salt-and-pepper diamonds have visible inclusions that give each stone its own pattern. Paired with decorative metalwork or a geometric setting, they offer another interpretation of a vintage-inspired ring. Sergio can assess the individual stone and discuss a setting suited to its condition and your daily wear.

Give an heirloom a new setting
A family ring, a loose diamond, a piece you rarely wear. Bring it to the studio and tell us which details you want to keep.
Sergio will assess your stones and explain which can be used in a new setting. Keep a favourite detail from the original, or explore a different design around the same stone. If you want to preserve the original ring, bring it as a reference for a separate piece.
